This Privacy Policy describes how the LIFTER app ("the Service") collects, uses, and handles your information. The Service is operated by Luke J Varney and Austin L Dean, independent software developers ("we," "us," or "our").

1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, password (stored securely as a hash), display name, username, profile photo, bio, and timezone.
Workout and Fitness Data
We collect data you enter about your training, including workouts, exercises, sets, reps, weights, muscle groups targeted, personal records, body weight entries, and progress photos you choose to upload.
Social and User-Generated Content
We collect content you create on the platform: posts, comments, praises, follows, and any reports or blocks you submit.
AI-Generated Insights
When you use the AI insights feature, structured summaries of your workout data are sent to OpenAI to generate personalised feedback. We do not send personally identifying information to OpenAI beyond what is necessary to generate the insight.
Push Notifications
If you enable push notifications, we collect your device's push token and platform type (iOS/Android) to deliver notifications.
Feedback
When you submit feedback through the app, we collect the text you enter, your app version, your platform, and any screenshots you choose to attach.
Local Storage
We store certain data locally on your device, including your login session, app preferences, and draft workouts.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Authenticate your account and keep it secure
- Enable social features such as the feed, follows, and challenges
- Deliver push notifications you have opted into
- Generate AI-powered post-workout insights
- Improve app functionality based on usage patterns and feedback
- Enforce our Terms of Service and community standards
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following third-party providers to operate the Service. Each has its own privacy policy and data practices:
- Supabase — backend infrastructure, database, file storage, and authentication
- OpenAI — AI-generated workout insights
- Expo — push notification delivery
- Giphy and Tenor — GIF search within the app
- GitHub — internal tracking of user-submitted feedback
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile and all associated data will be permanently and irreversibly deleted. Note that your authentication identity (email address) may be retained in Supabase's authentication system for a period after deletion, but it will not be linked to any personal data or accessible through the app.
To delete your account: go to Settings → Account Details → Delete Account.
5. Children's Privacy
LIFTER is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. International Data Processing
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, wherever our service providers (such as Supabase and OpenAI) operate their infrastructure. By using LIFTER, you consent to this transfer.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
